As a PhD student – we usually get paid between £14,000-£21,000 per year tax free. We also get travel money for trips abroad.

You can earn more with jobs in finance etc..but for me it’s more important to be doing something I really enjoy 🙂

As a newly qualified Clinical Scientist I earn roughly £32000. I think thats reasonable but with two physics degrees i could be earning a lot more working elsewhere! But i enjoy what i do and I love the fact i’m using physics in a practical purpose to help people.

As a physicist in the NHS, you could earn anything between about £26,000 and £100,000. But it would take a long time to work up to the top end and there are so few jobs at that level that the vast majority of folk will never get anywhere near that!

I get paid about 27k. I’m happy with that. It will go up when I graduate (to 32k). I didn’t pick the job for the money tbh but I do think I get paid well. Not megabucks but I don’t need lots. To have a roof over my head, be able to pay the bills, nice food, the occasional takeaway and most importantly of all, being able to travel, makes me happy.

I think I make about £36k (I think that includes London allowance). I’m a research associate in academia. If you have a career in academia, lectures to professors can make anywhere from 40k to 90k+
