Sure! They are certainly possible. My understanding is that these multiverse theories (I think there are a few different ones) solve some issues that either quantum mechanics or string theory have.
I guess the hard part will be how to test these theories. How to do you do an experiment in our universe that tests whether there are other universes?
I’m afraid I don’t buy this one at all. Science is all about performing experiments and proving that things are one way or the other but it would be impossible to test if there really are other universes out there so I think it’s really an irrelevant argument. Maybe it helps make some bits of the maths fit with experiments at the moment but I think that’s just because we don’t yet have a good enough understanding of either the maths or the physics. We’ll get there, though!
I believe in Everett’s many world’s interpretation, which is possibly the same as the multiverse theory. I like watching series such as Fringe which play on the idea of there being lots of parallel universes. The thing with all the different theories out there is that currently they are just theories. There is no clear evidence pointing at any one of them as the final truth. This is why science is so fascinating – there are still some massive questions to be answered, and one day we will get there.
